Streaming speed

Sometimes we received information so videos are streaming slow, constantly buffering.
One basic rule is: THIS IS NOT RELATED TO FLASH PLAYER

We have reports and we know it that Nuevoplayer is one of best players around when it comes to CPU usage especially for high quality videos, but this and any other flash player has no impact how fast your video is streamed.
There are 3 factors that decides of streaming speed.
1. Server speed and capabilities
2. Watcher internet speed
3. Video file quality and compression

1. This is obvious so the better server you have, the faster streaming you can expect
2. You have no impact on what internet speed someone can have
3. The higher quality of video, the bigger video size, takes much more time to download and stream video.

Some people set very high bitrate for converted videos, additionally using basic h263 Soerensen encoder for conversion. Result is good quality video (though not so impressive), but huge filesize, very complex to read.
You may try to download such video and watch how much time it will take. This is same what also player needs to download and stream video.
So if for example video length is 8 minutes, but download takes 30 minutes, just imagine it: player needs same time to download and stream video. Result will be constantly buffering video. Something not to accept by watchers.

You must adjust conversion settings to your server speed, to possible watchers internet speed.
Don't set video bitrate and video dimensions too large or watching video will be only a pain.

Recently we have x264 codec, which allows to encode video and convert to FLV container at very high quality and low filesize. That's the only way so you can offer really high quality videos to watch.
Still such conversion and streaming requires good dedicated server or poweful VPS.

Please do not email us with question about Nuevoplayer streaming speed as it is completely NOT RELATED to flash app like Nuevoplayer is.
